Valentine’s Day is just a week away and whatever your plans, add some bubbles and pour on the pink with a selection of fun cocktails to make it a celebration!
The visual appeal of cotton candy champagne cocktails is sure to be a show-stopper. Simply pouring your favorite bubbles over the sweet, photogenic puffs will do the trick, but if you want to really wow the crowd, we recommend Olive and Tate’s recipe (below) – complete with gilded cherries!
Ingredients – 5 servings
1 Bottle dry champagne or sparkling wine
1-2oz Cotton Candy (fresh spun or store-bought)
Cherries (one per glass)
Gold food paint
Blot cherries with a paper towel to remove excess liquid. Using a paintbrush or Q-Tip, gently paint cherries with gold food paint (can be found on Amazon or in any craft store). Set aside. Wait until just before guests arrive to make the cotton candy or open the packaging. Cotton Candy has a tendency to deflate in open air. Place cotton candy in glasses, top with a gilded cherry. As you serve each guest, pour chilled champagne over the cotton candy. The cotton candy will melt, turning the drink a sweet pink with a swirl of gold from the cherry!
Mix up the usual go-to champagne cocktails with a festive gin fizz. This Valentine’s Gin Fizz from Living Well Kitchen is pretty in pink, but not too sweet!
Ingredients – 2 servings
4 oz gin
2 oz orange juice freshly squeezed
1 cup strawberries sliced (plus more to garnish)
1 tbs sugar
2 tbs very hot water
½ cup sparkling water
Stir together Bluecoat Gin, freshly squeezed orange juice, and strawberries. In a small bowl, stir together sugar and hot water until sugar is dissolved. Stir into gin mixture and refrigerate for 30 minutes. When ready to serve, pour into glasses and top with equal parts sparkling water. Garnish with strawberries if desired.
Must Love Margaritas
Make margarita-lovers’ dreams come true with a bubbly pink variety that’s perfect for the 14th. This pink champagne margarita from The Adventure Bite is lovely to look at, satisfying to sip, and easy to make.
Ingredients – 3 servings
1 cup champagne
2 cups pink lemonade
½ cup tequila
½ cup triple sec
¼ cup lime juice
Toppings – sugar sticks, pink salt/sugar, lime slices
Combine all ingredients, in a pitcher and stir. Coat glass rim with lime slice then dip in sugar or salt. Pour into glasses and serve with sugar sticks.
Valen-wine Sophisticated Slushie
We know, we know, “sophisticated” and “slushie” don’t usually go together, but one look at this concoction from Diva’s Can Cook may make you reconsider!
Ingredients – 3 servings
1 bottle sweet red wine (I use Muscadine)
3 cups frozen mixed berries
¼-½ cup powdered sugar
Toppings – fresh berries and mint
Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour mixture into ice cube trays. Freeze (cubes will have a soft freeze). Place desired amount of frozen wine cubes into the blender and blend. Use additional wine to thin out the slushie if desired. Serve immediately. Garnish with fresh berries and mint.
Get out the special occasion glasses – or festive reusable cups – and pour on the love!
