A note from Cool Gear Founder & President, 2013 EY Entrepreneur Winner, philanthropist, dog-lover, water skier and mother, Donna Roth.

Like all women, I wear many hats – as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, entrepreneur and slalom water skier. So juggling life has become a pastime of mine. There’s no easy way to make it all work, but if you play to your strengths and surround yourself with talented people, life can be enriched and rewarding.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that we would build Cool Gear into the Brand it is today. However, I never doubted that I would achieve my goals. I’m passionate about business, people and product development. I love the creative process and where it can lead you.

waterskiingMy favorite cliche is that life is about the journey. Being an entrepreneur is about taking risks. You can’t worry about failure because you’ll find that failure actually can be your best friend. The lessons learned are part of the journey. The people that come in and go out of your life are an integral part of that journey as well, and people are life’s most treasured gifts.

My advice to young entrepreneurs in any field is to stay true to yourself. Choose a field that you’re passionate about because you’ll find that you’ll love every day of your career. Integrity is at the core of true success. Build strong relationships and partnerships and never burn a bridge. Learn to compromise…a good negotiated deal is when both parties win. You can’t succeed alone, so build a strong team.

Last but not least, make sure you have a balance in life with family, friends and work.

My legacy will be my children, Kristyn and Derek…where everything for me begins and ends.

We hope to inspire, as well share some real life experiences with this blog, along with having some fun.  We hope you enjoy!
